Job Title: COBOL Mainframe Developer/Support Analyst
Duration: 3 Years+
Location: Remote
Job Brief
This is a long-term contract with an expected end date of December 2027. The position supplies application development/support for Customers Customer Relationship System (PHOENIX) which manages Customers meter to cash process. The successful candidate will be involved in system enhancements, defect resolution, responses to user requests, and other system maintenance activities that will require them to collaborate closely with other team members and PHOENIX clients.
Job Responsibilities
• Analyze, evaluate, test, debug, document, and implement complex software solutions in support of the PHOENIX Customer Relationship System
• Code and test solutions based upon the technical designs using the methodologies, procedures, architectures, and standards of the system and to be able to incorporate these into the construction process for the system
• Develop and support existing system documentation
• Support testing teams
• Ensure solutions provide system stability by following application standards and development/support methodologies
• Communicate status to client stakeholders, project managers, team leads, team members and management
• Provide 24×7 technical support as needed as part of an on-call rotation
• Monitor program execution for expected performance and trouble shoot issues as they arise
• Use design and coding methods in specific programming languages to initiate or enhance program execution and functionality
Additional Information
• Strong COBOL, DB2, SQL, JCL knowledge required
• Experience with HTML, CICS, CICS Web Support, JavaScript, JQuery, InfoArchive and MQSeries is helpful but not required
• Experience with mainframe tools: TSO, ISPF, File-Aid, $avers, BMC, Xpediter, SCLM, Control-M is beneficial
• Knowledge or experience with mainframe and web development is beneficial
• Strong critical thinking skills are required
• Strong knowledge and experience in complex SQL and emphasis on performance tuning
• Ability to adapt to changing roles and changing priorities
• Must show strong people skills, focus on customer service and the ability to work well independently or in teams in an on-site/remote setting.
