Job Description:

Our client is looking for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Corporate IT in Columbus) to provide enterprise-level designs/solutions, deployment, support, and administration of server, Microsoft 365, and storage/backup systems.  Candidate must be able to work collaboratively in the spirit of Our Philosophy. Key Position Results

  • Deployment of high-quality systems to production environments (at or under department standards for quality/defects)

  • Continually develops skills to meet the needs of our company

 Primary Technology experience needed

  • Strong foundational experience within Active Directory across design, impact analysis, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Strong Microsoft Powershell experience
  • Licensing Servers (ie: KMS)
  • Cloud Integration expertise, such as Azure and Microsoft 365

Secondary Technology experience wanted

  • VMWare ESXI experience with Hypervisor, and with VCenter
  • Pure and/or Netapp storage experience
  • Solarwinds Monitoring experience
  • AWS or Oracle cloud experience
  • VEEAM Backup and Recovery

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Understand and analyze business needs and current system configurations
  • Translate business requirements to effective, efficient, & secure system architecture and designs (documented); focus on user experience is a must
  • Securely configure and deploy infrastructure system solutions and related technologies.  For example: managing and installing operating systems (including virtualization) and services, developing scripts, managing and developing system capacity plans, installing and configuring hardware and software (physical and virtual), managing storage and backup systems, integrating systems to make interoperable (both on-premise and cloud)
  • Test system solutions, working with end users and system owners as needed
  • Perform production support and troubleshooting (root cause analysis)
  • Mentor, support, train, and share knowledge with peers, end users, and other teams as needed (Service Desk, End Users, Network, Security, Release Management, etc.)
  • Ensure systems perform in an optimal fashion that meets or exceeds business requirements; automate tasks, procedures/processes as needed
  • Complete system documentation (design, run books, ticketing system, etc.)
  • Provide accurate estimates of work (tasks, hours, etc.), perform work in a timely & quality manner, and report status of work in a timely manner
  • Perform in a continuous improvement mode (constantly look for ways to operate more efficiently and effectively; and apply change)
  • Remain current on new or emerging tools and solutions that could benefit our business systems
  • Complete technology planning, strategy, and roadmap activities, as needed
  • Adhere to department principles, processes, standards, conventions, and industry best practices when performing work
  • Requires on-call after hours support (part of on call rotation with team)
  • Ability to travel as needed (approx. 10%)
  • Other duties as assigned

Critical Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Strong working/demonstrated knowledge of:
    • Server, storage/backup, network, security fundamentals, and other infrastructure architectures
    • Windows Server (2016, 2019, 2022), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, DFS, File/Print, and Certificate Services (PKI)
    • Virtualized server environments: VMware vCenter 6.5+, vSphere, Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
    • Microsoft Office 365 (and integrated components)
    • Storage systems (Pure is preferred) and best practices
    • Load balancing (F5 is preferred)
    • Backup and replication systems (Veeam is preferred)
    • Monitoring and alerting platforms (Solarwinds is preferred) and best practices
    • System and data integration best practices, cloud computing
    • Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure
  • Working knowledge and experience with:
    • Linux Operating systems
    • Foundational network technologies (DNS/DHCP, WINS, etc.)
    • ITIL, VDI, EMM solutions (AirWatch preferred)
    • Knowledge of (highly preferred):
    • Dell Server Hardware (Open Manage Enterprise, OME)
    • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Ability to:
    • Configure system solutions in a manner to foster maintainability in a team environment
    • Quickly learn and apply technology is required
    • Work in a distributed environment (at least 60+ sites, 5000+ users)
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including teamwork and team building
    • Strong analytical, technical, troubleshooting, written & verbal skills
